There are several capability cost attributed to Jims lack of training. There is the cost of lowly water and telephone lines. These broken lines might affect some other businesses in the community which could besides affect the construction companions reputation. There is the cost of time and resources required to go into the hole and repair the utility lines. Another cost, which is not fiscal; however, is just as important, is the effect on employee morale. The morale takings is not only related to the employees repairing the broken lines, but also to the employees who are breaking the lines. There is the cost of dissatisfaction in the operators themselves which chiffonier create low self-efficacy which can lead to low functioning.

They felt that the machines did most of the work and that any training needed could be learned on the concern through operator trial and error. They assumed that the cost was little using this method than any other form of training.
