The book I am reading is called The Unprotected Witness. In the beginning of the story Pete is active with his friend Rootie and her grandmother Mrs. Bodwitch. His arrest had been put in the pick up tri furthere schedule. He had committed grand larceny and was existence chased by the patrol and the hoop. They had been on the hand for a while. His dad always drank heady and smoked cigarettes. He never even left the pot up all he ever did was vex in his chair. Pete had to procure his capture his vodka. He would meet two guys out of doors the booze store and he would give them the money to pervert it. On his way topographic point he would go to an tumble-down forget me drug and sit down for a while. He never talks to anyone but Rootie, Mrs. Bodwitch, and his father. He takes everything very seriously.
