In Hemingways first novel, The Sun Also Rises, typical characters convey the theme of the story, sense of moralities of the lost generation during the stick out war. This disability left hand him psychologically and morally lost, and takes his masculinity away from him. He cannot break out his relationship with Brett whom he truly loves, because he cannot physically replete her. This causes Jake to be troubled and have great shiftlessness. He is in like manner annoyed with Cohn, who went on a trip to San Sebastian with Brett. He practically enjoys seeing Cohn defeated by Mike, who is also jealous of Cohn.
