My parents, especially my mother, were not going to have that. They had already fought the school on many more issues. The school believed at one point I was special needs and minimal brain damage and needed to be medicated in kindergarten. My mother put her institution down, and she knew that I was a bright child and would develop and piece of cake up. My mom started trying to find stories that would spark my interest. She bought me many books throughout the second grade: Judy Blume, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Magic channelise House series, but nothing seemed to work. My mom knew I had the foundational skills to be able to read, but I just would not read.
