The 1960s was the hardest time for blacks in the south. Blacks were treated with the to the lowest degree amount of respect, not and during this time, but still straight off blacks are looked down upon as inferior. When the civil rights movement, lead by mainly Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was initiated, blacks began to rebel against below the belt voting rights, segregation, and for matchity.
One of the start major events that happened was the Brown v. carte of Education case. Oliver Brown, who was an African American, had a daughter. The school at which she attend was far from her house and in order to get in that respect she had to pass by an unruly neighborhood which she was uncomfortable move through. There was a school right across the bridle-path from her house but since the rule was separate but equal is constitutional she could not attend it because it was a white notwithstanding school. Her father complained and the case was taken to the arrogant Court. The ruling of Plessey v. Ferguson was broken and the new ruling was that separate but equal isnt equal. After this event most school became integrated.
A 1961 Supreme Court decision to end desegregation not only in travel, but also in bus close facilities, prompted a new set of Freedom Rides and SNCCs involvement. In 1961 a group of seven black and six white people, including outhouse Lewis, left Washington, D.C. for New Orleans on two buses, a Trailways bus and a Greyhound bus. The group made it through Virginia and conjugation Carolina without incident.
At the Greyhound bus station in Rock Hill, confederation Carolina, the group encountered violence. A mob of twenty attacked the group, and John Lewis was the first to be hit as he approached the white delay room. Police eventually interfered and the group was allowed access to the white waiting room. The journey continued to Georgia. After leaving Atlanta, the Greyhound bus was halt as it entered Alabama.
